HLTAID011 Provide First Aid
First Aid Course Lismore
This nationally recognised first aid course delivers the skills and knowledge required to provide first aid response, life support, management of casualty(s), the incident and other first aiders, until the arrival of medical or other assistance.
This course is suitable for people requiring workplace first aid training in Lismore, Ballina, Byron Bay and across the Northern Rivers.
Units of Study
The following units will be awarded to participants upon successful completion of the course:
- HLTAID011 Provide first aid
- HLTAID010 Provide basic emergency life support
- HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
It is recommended this unit be renewed every 36 months in line with industry standards.

Course Delivery
- Online learning with face to face assessment in Lismore.
- Alternatively, this course can be delivered entirely face to face or through blended delivery in your workplace, or at a training facility.
Course Duration/Modes of Delivery
- Online with face to face assessment – Self-paced online learning (6 hours) + 2 hour face to face assessment
- Face to face – 7.5 hours (minimum) – full face to face course.
- Blended delivery – 6 hours (minimum) face to face course – with the addition of 2 hours self-paced learning to be completed prior to attending the face to face course.
- Refresher – 6 hours (minimum) face to face training – conditions apply for this option, for example, you will need to provide previous current certificates.

Individual bookings: $160 + GST per participant

Payment terms – individuals are required to pay their course fees before commencing their study. Groups and organisations will be invoiced for their training and will be required to pay according to the invoice terms.
Refund Policy –
- Students who cancel their booking 10 days prior to the commencement of their training course are entitled to a full refund.
- Cancellations made less than 10 days prior to the start of a course – 50% refund to cover processing costs.
- Cancellations made after a training program has commenced are not refundable.
Entry Requirements
Participants must have the physical capacity to perform the practical demonstrations, such as 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on the floor.
Pre-course study: Students may be required to undertake online pre-course work prior to attending the face to face session depending on the course delivery mode.
Online study: Students must have access to a computer, smartphone, tablet or other electronic devices with access to the internet to complete the online/ pre-course studies.
Unique Student Identifier (USI)
To complete any nationally accredited course in Australia, it is a requirement that you have a Unique Student Identifier (USI). You can register for a free USI at usi.gov.au
If a USI is not supplied and verified, a certificate cannot be issued to you upon completion of your training.

Assessment Requirements
Individuals undertaking our Lismore first aid course will be expected to complete both written and practical assessment tasks.
Assessment Activities
Assessments include a combination of practical scenarios and performance tasks, as well as a theoretical assessment.
Performance tasks and practical scenarios:
- Perform CPR on an adult (incl. the use of an AED and placing a casualty into the recovery position)
- Complete a first aid incident report form based on the simulated first aid scenario
- Perform CPR on an infant
- Manage a casualty with anaphylaxis
- Manage a casualty with asthma
- Manage a choking casualty
- Manage a casualty with non-life-threatening bleeding and shock, requiring minor wound cleaning
- Manage a casualty with a nosebleed
- Manage a casualty with a fracture and dislocation
- Manage a casualty with a sprain and strain
- Manage a casualty with envenomation (snake/ funnel-web spider bite)
Theory Assessment:
A written assessment consisting of multiple-choice questions.
